Be sure to keep October 20th open on your calendar. That is the date of the Ira and Larry Goldberg Manuscript and Collectible sale (in BH) which will include material I just brokered and wrote to create a high-end boutique sale of only about 50 lots (low estimates are $750,000+). Included are key items from the Cooper Estate and the Aldrin collections as well as key material from other sources. Included are probably the two most important unique, FLOWN, LUNAR SURFACE items known as well as many other lunar surface pieces of memorabilia - all documented. As soon as the photos are done and integrated with the descriptions, I will do a major post here. Meanwhile, catalogs are available for those interested. Let me know.

Yes, catalogs will be online as soon as production is done. For those of you interested, there will also be bidding via EbayLive although some of you may want to be on the floor for these lots. They should be quite active.

Gentlemen - Just to let you know that 1) catalogs are at the mailing house and will start to go into the mail today, 2) the sale is up on the Ira and Larry Goldberg Auction web site: www.goldbergcoins.com and 3) the sale should be up on EbayLive in the next day or two. For those of you who appreciate lunar surface memorabilia, this sale is a must. Good luck.

Now that the excitement is over re: the Heritage and Regency-Superior sales, don't forget about the Goldberg Manuscript and Collectible Auction on this coming Saturday, 20 October. The sale starts at 10 AM. The space lots (lot #s 99-137) will be up quickly. Be sure to arrange for phone bidding this week if you wish (call Beverly Hill or Glenn Onishi at 310-551-2646) or you can bid via Ebay Live (call the above folks for more info if needed). Don't miss this chance to get some unique memorabilia.

Is lot 124, Apollo 11, 1969, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins Autographs, an insurance cover?

Yes, Lot 124 appears to be one of Aldrin's crew-signed insurance covers with their mission emblem cachet. Did Aldrin not say otherwise?

Hard to believe that the last of the Three big auctions is upon us today... and then nothing until next year. This should be a quick interesting sale.

At the Goldberg sale, an Apollo 11 flown American flag presentation from Buzz Aldrin (Lot 122) sold for $5,250 (excluding buyer's premium). Was this a good deal for an Apollo 11 flown flag?

At the earlier Heritage sale, the Apollo 11 flag flown "on the moon" by Neil Armstrong sold for over $56K (with BP). Do people understand that this flag was actually carried by Armstrong as he took his first step on the moon, as indicated in the Heritage item description? If that's the case, I expect that accounts for the much higher price.

But it seemd to me that the price realized for the Aldrin flag sold at the Goldberg auction was relatively low. Am I wrong on this?

I thought that the A11 crew had agreed not to distinguish between "to the moon" and "to the surface" items.

Hello All, well I must say, Micheal Orenstein and the rest ran a first class operation, I was there and things ran very smoothly. I tried to get the AP11 LM timeline, wanted to keep it in my family as one item, was sweating bullets as I was bidding, but by the time I put my last bid in, figured it was about all I wanted to spend on one item, no matter how much I wanted it. At least I made Buzz a lot just by my bids. I did get the flown cover though, I like those and as I have four children to pass items on to, I still need one more of those. Overall, an excellent job by all of the people there, looking forward to the next auction they have... Eddie

I want to thank all of you for your interest in this sale and for your help in making it a success. I am already at work on a sale for April, but more about that later. The prices realized for this sale are as follows:

Lot 99 - $2,200
Lot 100 - $3,000
Lot 101 - $525
Lot 102 - Unsold
Lot 103 - $6,500
Lot 104 - $2,700
Lot 105 - $3,400
Lot 106 - $4,750
Lot 107 - $3,600
Lot 108 - $1,750
Lot 109 - $875
Lot 110 - $90
Lot 111 - $400
Lot 112 - $1,850
Lot 113 - $1,450
Lot 114 - Unsold
Lot 115 - $4,250
Lot 116 - $220,000
Lot 117 - Unsold
Lot 118 - Unsold
Lot 119 - $26,000
Lot 120 - Unsold
Lot 121 - $32,000
Lot 122 - $5,250
Lot 123 - $2,500
Lot 124 - $6,750
Lot 125 - $2,300
Lot 126 - $4,000
Lot 127 - $6,250
Lot 128 - $750
Lot 129 - $2,750
Lot 130 - $4,500
Lot 131 - $1,600
Lot 132 - $4,000
Lot 133 - Unsold
Lot 134 - $3,600
Lot 135 - Unsold
Lot 136 - $380

Some went high, others low, but both buyers and sellers appear to be pleased with the results. None of the above numbers include the buyers premium of 15%. Not bad for just 37 lots using a new auction house. The price realization for lot 116, while below my original estimate is, we believe, the second highest price ever realized for a piece of US memorabilia (I still think it was worth more, but the market dictates the value).

As mentioned above, I have already begun work on the April sale (if enough material comes in to allow the sale to be held sooner, we will). I have already been promised an outstanding selection of space "posters" and "original blueprints", alll dating back to the 1950s and from an internationally known collection. I have meetings planned shortly with two pioneer NASA Administrators (and/or their Estates) re consignments and much more in development. If any of you would like to consign, now is the time to start thinking about it, while I have time to think about proper descriptions. When the rush commences after the first of the year, autopilot becomes a necessity if the sale is to be finished on time.

Feel free to drop me an email (rightstuf@verizon.net) if you have any questions. Again, many thanks for helping to make this sale a success.

And Eddie - many thanks for the kind words and for your participation.

Michael Orenstein
