There will be an auction of space-related items (mostly photographs I've read) on June 2. The auction house can be found at: http://www.ader-paris.fr/ but I don't have any specifics right now. Simply a confirmation.Chris. |

It's worth noting that the vintage NASA glossy photos in this sale go for photographic art prices, not "oh that'll be nice to have signed by Charlie Duke" prices. |

OMG €400-500 for a vintage glossy??!!!There are some uncommon shots there but who on Earth pays those prices? Many of the glossies on Ebay get snapped up for big prices by someone called "ciemm art" in France. Maybe it's just a unique market for these things? Paul |

I have no idea who buys these photos at this kind of auction but I don't believe the end buyers are space collectors. The photos are treated as vintage photographic art and probably bought by specialist collectors or investors. As for eBay, when these kind of photos appear the buyers are looking to resell in these auctions for a hefty profit. The prices on eBay look high ($100-200+) but compared to the prices realised at these auctions... My feeling is that these prices are something of a bubble as these NASA photos are not really that scarce. Once the end collectors start to realise that there's an almost endless supply of vintage Ed White EVA shots out there the prices are bound to fall. |
