A few weeks ago, I came across a press release for the Colorectal Cancer Screening Initiative Foundation in my search for Sightings: quote:
What do astronaut Roberta Bondar, Consul General Pamela Wallin, Barenaked Ladies' Ed Robertson, the National Ballet's Karen Kain, Argos Quarterback Damon Allen and six other well-known personalities have in common? ...
...They all put their butts on the line for Colorectal Cancer... creating fabulous Designer Bottoms to be auctioned off at the Colorectal Cancer Screening Initiative Foundation's Bottoms Up! event, Thursday, June 8, 2006, 6:30p.m.; Palais Royale; 1601 Lake Shore Blvd.
Though it was too late for the event, the CCSIF was able to share pictures of Bondar's "bottom" and the results of the auction.  According to Aleksandra Masionis with the CCSIF, Bondar's Mooning sold for $550.   quote:
Bottoms Up! brings levity to a serious message. Colorectal Cancer is the number two killer, by cancer, of Canadians. The incredible part... it is up to 95% preventable with timely and thorough screening. Bottom line: CCSIF wants Canadians to put their bottoms at the top of their priority list.Approximately 20,000 Canadians will be diagnosed with colorectal cancer this year. 8,500 will die. Organized, population-based screening saves lives.

Just like the computer babe, Kim Komando says...."It is information like this you can only find here." (or at least that's a paraphrase !)Thanks for the news ! And complete with PICTURES ! Now exactly WHY are astronauts offended when someone follows them into men's rooms with their autograph requests ? Cheers ! (I am STILL laughing over this report, although I surely recognize the seriousness of the topic they were raising money for !) GET TESTED, whether it is just a PSA blood test of a full-fledged colorectal exam.....that my own doctor has been after me to do for two years now ! Gene | |
