Hi!

Do you get confirmation or something? I think I won 2 items at Aurora yesterday (via the internet) but got no confirm either by email or on my ebay account.

How do you know, other than contacting Aurora? (I think they're pretty busy right now, so I'd rather not email them for a few days...but I'd like to know NOW!)

Hi,

I have just received an automatic email generated by ebay about the lots I've won yesterday, that's usually the way it works - at least if you've bid online.

Also the lots you've won show up in your "My Ebay" under "Items I've bought" - check it out.

Usually after the end of the auction (and I mean incl. the second chance auction next weekend) you get a final invoice by email with the total incl. shipping costs unless you have other arrangements with Aurora.

best regards
Florian

Thanks, Spaceflori!

I didn't get an email confirm, and my "won" items haven't shown up on "myebay"...so I'm a littled worried...

Hi Ray,

even if your bids weren't successful you can find the lots you were bidding on in "My ebay"...that's strange indeed.

Maybe worth checking with Aurora.

Some (but not all) items I bid on showed up in emails and on myebay. However, at least on item I bid on and didn't get did not show up.

I emailed Aurora...but expect that I'll need to wait a few days because they must be extremely busy. That's okay. I learn patience!

Sometimes ebay emails are pretty slow, they can take up to 2 days...so you may just wait and see, also check your spam filter, sometimes emails get stuck there.
(I keep telling that to my newsletter subscribers all the time, often people even don't know they are working with a spam filter).

However in your "My Ebay" all these lots you won and didn't win should appear immediately...are you sure your bids were accepted by the ebay system ?

You'll know when your user ID and a smiley shows up on top of the bidding screen under "currrent high bidder".

I even got emails from ebay for those lots I was bidding on and that I didn't win.

I think some of the confusion may come from the way the live bidding works. When you press the button to send a bid it will not register if someone else has already sent a bid for the same amount via eBay or live at the auction house. If you don't bid again the item will not appear in the Items You Didn't Win section of MyEBay and your bid will not appear in the Bids list of the item.

e.g. The item is at $70. The BidNow button says $80. You press the button but before your bid is registered someone else places the same bid. The item goes up to $80 but you are not the winner. In the list of bids it will show $80 but it won't have your name alongside it as you are not the high bidder.

It's quite easy to miss this during the live auction.

To verify if you really were the high bidder on an item the easiest way is probably to look on eBay at the Completed Items. Just click on the Bid History to see if you're listed.

Things go pretty fast on screen at the live auction. I'm pretty sure that for both items I was listed as high bidder when the item closed. But my memory could be faulty. I DO know that I tried to send a bid for each and the amount I bid matches the winning bid.

But it's possible that someone beat me to the winning number and my bid—being slower than a competitor, didn't register...

I've made my peace, and I'll just wait...

I also was a bit confused. But I read the fine print in the catalog.

I had originally placed mail bids because I expected to be out of town on April 1. But then plans changed so I wateched the items I bid on trade via Live Auctions on ebay.

It looked like items I had bid for via mail traded to someone else on ebay but then I read page 8 of the catalog which says "When identical bids are received for a lot, preference is given to the first bid received as determined by Aurora." It also says a mail bid takes preference over a floor bid.

So it would seem that if you bid, say $100 via ebay, that an identical $100 bid via mail would take the item. That's why you might see your ebay bid show up, but that you don't get the item. (Or at least that's what I think based on what I read in the catalog & what I saw online this weekend).

Anyway, I will wait to see what Aurora says I won.

For what its worth, moments ago I received an e-mail from Aurora with an invoice for the lot I won and a request to confirm my address to calculate shipping fees. This was after having received eBay's "You Won eBay Item..." automated e-mail minutes after placing my winning bid.

For what its worth, I got a current high bid smily, Then the bid box went blank and the bidding started again.

In my ebay it shows as a did not win but bid was placed 2 seconds earlier than the winning bid which was a floor bid

I accept that a floor bid takes precident my problem is that ebay live showed me as the highest bidder and then reset itself.

Have emailed a copy of the screen to Auroa to show my point, I assume the floor bid wasn't a mail or absentee bid as my bid was the 3rd bid but it could explain why it was reset.

Any way as I say I'm not fussed as it was a lot that went for $50

I made the experience that even with a DSL 6MBIT line there are some delays causing my bid coming in too late, sometimes a lot opens to just close fragments of a second later.
Sometimes I keep hitting "bid" and always some other online bidder was faster.

Ebay is not a perfect system....so I would recommend placing an absentee bid or do phone bidding if you desparately want anything special.

Hi!

Just got word from Aurora—I didn't win any items. Oh, well. I DO appreciate them getting back to me so quickly when they must be SO busy!

All times are CT (US)
