Hello

I’m new in a group.
Today, I have participate to my 1st Space public auction in Paris
A very strange and exciting moment.
Organize by the Ader House auctions, 227 space lots was propose.
In this link, you could find their online catalog :
http://www.ader-paris.fr/vente-encheres.php?vente=26

It was incredible to see all these old original NASA pictures climb with highest prices :

They find all buyers.

For example, lot 25 with a Gemini 4 White EVA colour original NASA photo (S-65-30427) has been sold for 1450 euros (no commission price include) so the estimation was 800/1000 euros.

But the very good surprise it was the space autographs lots. Apparently, in France, collectors prefer original photos as space autographs.

The 3 Armstrong autographs have been sell for a good prices for collectors :
Lot 93 : Original NASA Colour photo (AS11-40-5927) signed by Armstrong for 1600 euros
Lot 96 : NASA Apollo 11 Crew Litho signed by Armstrong for 400 euros
Lot 97 : NASA WSS Armstrong litho signed and inscribed by Armstrong for 400 euros

Others autographs have been sell with good price
Lot 192 : Slayton WSS signed & inscribed Portrait for 100 euros
Lot 208 : NASA Litho with the 6 1st US Female astronauts signed by all for 60 euros
Many signed covers lots signed by cosmonauts for low price (by example I bought a lot with 27 signed covers (103 cosmonauts or astronauts autographs in total) for 180 euros)

But the ‘’gem’’ lot was the lot 204 :
Original B&W STS-1 launch photo (inscribed in reverse NASA AC-453-0034) signed by 48 astronauts in differents pens (including Judith Resnik, Mike Smith, Dick Scobbee, Ron McNair and Sonny Carter) for…320 euros

But some autopens pictures have bee sold too (Lot 154 : Apollo 16 Crew NASA Photo with autopens for 450 euros !!!)

It’s by chance, I have know this sale auction reading a newspaper..

No word about this in Collectspace or others space links… But many people was here (with germans collectors) and by phone.

A great experience for the 1st time.

I have seen lots of NASA glossies selling for what seemed like wild prices ($50-200+) over the last year or so and they were nearly always bought by French buyers.

Now I can see that they may be being resold for $500+ per print, which is serious money! Does anyone know why these NASA glossies sell for such high prices in France? Who is buying them at these prices?

Maybe I should know myself since I live here, but I've never heard anything about vintage space photo collectors in France.

All times are CT (US)
