1950s-60s Mark IV Pressure Suit and Helmet
Our consignor acquired this wonderful suit from an engineer involved in the space program who is now deceased. As the story goes, the suit was worn by or fitted for John Glenn and others as they went through the centrifuge program at the Naval Air Station, Warminster, PA prior to the closing of that base. There is a stenciling on the inside which reads: MK IV mod, fleet instruction, special sizing Large Long. The original face glass had been removed by the Navy Program to prevent possible suffocation while wearing the suit and helmet. The plastic visor is broken, otherwise the suit and helmet are in great shape considering the nearly 50 years since its use. Gold colored helmet with U.S. Navy insignia on top and B.F. Goodrich on back, USN patches on left shoulder and chest. Leather and rubber parts beginning to become brittle, still overall excellent condition. A rare opportunity to acquire an early astronaut training suit. Letter from consignor included with lot.

1969 Flown, Crew signed Beta Cloth Patch
Pristine 6"x6" beta cloth patch that was carried to the Moon during the first lunar landing mission. The piece is in pristine condition, signed at the bottom by Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Buzz Aldrin. Across the top, in Collins handwriting he wrote: ‘Carried to the Moon aboard Apollo XI July 1969’. Ex The Michael Collins Collection.

1971 High Flight Poem Carried to the Moon
Autographed copy of the poem ‘High Flight’ that was carried to the Moon by astronaut Jim Irwin aboard Apollo 15. Al Worden also signed the copy. This 8_”x11" poem was donated by Jim Irwin to a 1978 auction to raise funds for Don Chaffee the father of Astronaut Roger Chaffee who was so tragically killed in the Apollo 1 fire. A letter from Irwin donating this item to that auction with other supporting documentation, including the original auction catalog is also present. Irwin has noted: ‘This Copy Was Flown to The Moon on Flight of Apollo 15 26 July - 7 Aug 71’ and inscribed: ‘To Mr. Chaffee in Memory of Roger Who Made Our Flight to The Moon Possible--Jim Irwin, Apollo 15. Also included is an 8"x10" black and white photo of a portrait of Roger Chaffee signed in blue ballpoint by artist William Numeroff and by Don Chaffee, Roger’s father. Fresh condition. A true piece of Space history. Ideal for framing and museum display.

1960s Manned Orbiting Laboratory Model
Rare Gemini B MOL composite model 27_”x4" mounted horizontally on a wood base. There is no plaque. Some aging and slight discoloration, but no huge problem. Very seldom do we see models related to this fascinating experimental program, especially one this large. Inspection a must.
