Collection "Space": 32 important lots with 60 items, some of them for the first time at an Italian auction. For example the cover "Apollo 16" and many more.

Space - USA - cover "Apollo 16" with the two halves of the diptych "A decade of space achievements" c.8+8 - no.7 from the 25 that Duke got cancelled before taking off and included in the "Personal Preference Kit" - the covers, according to a sworn declaration by Duke, were carried, together with the personal kit, onto the moon in the landing area "Descartes" - the ship which recovered Apollo 16, Ticonderoga, marked the letters after recovery - expertise certificate by Enzo Diena (1985) - financial certificate by Bolaffi 100% (1992) with appendix - declaration by C.Duke (19.1.1987) - it is probably the first time that one of these 25 covers is offered at a public auction in Italy

The auction is set for March 12, 2005 in Vignola (Mo), Italy.

The collection “SPACE”, lots 707/738 with the starting total price of Euros 30350.00, realised a total of Euros 88963.00 as a temporary knocking-down for the single lots; then, as there were two offers for the collection in block, there followed a lively “struggle” and the whole collection was knocked down at Euros 121000.00.

Before the 32 lots sold as a block, bidding for the Apollo 16 flown cover reached 16000 euros.

All times are CT (US)
