Richard, pardon me for opening this topic but I believe the sale of Your life-long collection of space-related books is only 3 weeks away ... Hé I can have some competition from other cS members bidding in that auction ... Can You give us some preliminary details as the Waverly website doesn't list details for their " Sale 200 " of 23rd September 2004 !? http://mars-literature.skynetblogs.be/

Anyone else having problems with the online submission form on the Waverly site ? When I submit it I get a message which looks like the server is not Frontpage enabled. I have submitted my bid via their email address but want to know if the prob is my end or theirs (I'm guessing theirs from the error message but can't be sure) Many thanks......Adam (Added later, never mind, Dale has contacted me and all is OK, Adam ) [This message has been edited by nasamad (edited September 13, 2004).] |

I am leaving Palm Harbor, Florida today for the auction September 23, 2004 in Falls Church Virginia. I hope to see some cS people there. I also hope the books end up in loving hands. I wish to thank the many Astronauts and authors that have autographed/signed/inscribed for me. My collection has brought me much pleasure and I hope others enjoy the books. Good bidding! Richard

While I am bidding on a couple of items and would obviously like to get them for as little as possible, lol. I hope you make loads of money on the sale Richard ! I'm sure such great books will certainly end up in loving hands and will be cheriched for many generations to come. All the best......Adam |

Well the lot I bid on certainly went ! For over twice my maximum bid, the Apollo chronology books. Never mind, my loss is someone else's gain (and Richard's). Adam |

I was there last night for the auction and it was soon filled to standing room only. Bidding was fast and, at times, furious as lots exceeeded their estimates by two or three times. The one lot I was interested in went about $200 more than I was hoping to spend and then continued another $100 between two other bidders. Waverly runs a quick auction and the 300 or so lots were bidded and sold within two hours. I mostly came to see Richard, who was visiting from his new home in Florida. He addressed everyone at the start, expressing his joy at putting together the collection and his hope that it would find good homes. The results appeared strong so I hope Richard finds new happiness in what this auction enables. |

WOW! strong prices..Good for you, Richard. I live in Niceville/Destin area of Florida Panhandle and we just got our power (& Internet) back one week after being hit by Hurricane Ivan. Persoanlly, we were lucky with very minor outside damage. But area needs a lot of work to recover. Still a lot of people without power. BACK to the auction.. I'm hoping that the winning bidder (easily outbid the bid I left from a friend's phone, a day earlier)of lot #564-the 4 photo albums, will contact me. I have a strong interest in that obscure company and numerous rare signed documents related to it. Would like to share this information, and learn more from the winning bidder, as well. |
