What did everyone think about the Silent Auction results? I for one think the shuttle crew photos from Weitzs collection were a steal. I had my collecting eye on other focused pieces but for crew signed pics they are gorgeous at those prices.

Any thoughts?

I was interested in the pen set, mainly for the Deke Slayton pen, but I had already spent so much, I just couldn't spare over $200. But if the folks that won the astronaut experiences are out there, I would love it if you posted some details about your experiences. They all sounded like they would be very interesting.

Unfortunately, my plan for the silent auction did not work. None of my Lotto tickets panned out prior to the auction. :-)

The results were a bit surprising and, but for plowing everything towards a new house, I wish I had been in a position to bid. Oddly, over the weekend I was listening to a Yankee game on the radio when the announcers mentioned that they were being joined in the both by two men who had paid for the privilege at an auction. The winning bid for sitting in the broadcast booth at the Stadium for an inning (with one or two other things thrown in, I suspect) was $20,000. As much as I am a baseball nut, $1000 for a personal tour of JSC with Walt Cunningham strikes me as a far better way to go. Heck, for $20,000, I could have toured JSC with Cunningham, KSC with Crippen, had Brandenstein speak to my daughter's class and still gone wild with other opportunities. Ah well, maybe the lotto ticket will come in before next year's auction.
