SpaceX's almost casual reply to the failure that "accidents happen," which is something we need to remember — this was not carrying a payload — it was a test vehicle. Better here than later on during an operational mission.

I would assume that some US mainstream news media simply have no clue what the difference is between a test flight and an operational flight.
Give Musk and his workforce the benefit of doubt their detractors would have us all question.
