I have been researching the markings and special insignia applied to launch vehicles, both American and foreign, since the early space age, and I have a question about a ceremonial activity conducted for the launch of Delta 200 at the Cape in October 1990. An article in the Florida Today newspaper revealed that as a commemoration of the 200th Delta launch, McDonnell employees were invited to sign a large decal to be flown on the rocket, but the article did not say whether the decal was a special one prepared for the occasion, or whether the employees simply signed the payload decal on the first stage, in this case the Inmarsat logo for the rocket's payload. I have several photos of Delta 200 on the pad, but the resolution is not good enough to reveal any potential signatures. Does anybody know the full details of this commemorative event? | |
