If early (1930s) rocketry development in the UK is your thing, take a look at my extended article (PDF) on the role of played by Manchester and Liverpool in the formation of the British Interplanetary Society.

Nice article, thanks for posting. One of my first space books when I was a kid in the 60's was by Eric Burgess. Still got it!
