NASA Mars Global Surveyor did several computer reboots over the past weekend that caused science kit to be switched off.The situation seems to be coming under control of ground operators now and the race is on to try and get imaging systems up and running so it can image some landing sites . Any update on this? If MGS is "on its last legs" nobody can complain. From memory, the prime mission was to study Mars for a full Martian year, but MGS has produced nearly four Martian years of data. A triumph by any reckoning. I hope it's too early to write the MGS obituary, but nothing lasts for ever. If this is the end of the road, we could do worse than say "Well done, good and faithful servant." | |
