The Turkish GÖKTÜRK-2 Earth Observation Satellite (EOS), made mainly in Turkey but with an optical imager provided by South Korea, was safely launched yesterday into an ~ 700 kilometers high orbit. The satellite was launched aboard a Chinese Long March 2D vehicle operated from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in Gansu Province. The satellite has since sent signals to a ground station in northern Norway. Ground resolution for the imager is 2.5 meters. | |
