Progress MS-13 launches to space station

Russia's Progress MS-13 spacecraft lifted off with cargo for the International Space Station on Friday (Dec. 6). The uncrewed vehicle launched atop a Soyuz 2.1a rocket from Site 31/6 at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan at 4:34 a.m. EST (0934 GMT).

The spacecraft is expected to dock to the Pirs compartment on the space station’s Russian segment at 5:38 a.m. EST (1038 GMT) on Monday (Dec. 9). It will remain at the orbiting laboratory for more than seven months, departing in July 2020 for its deorbit into the Earth's atmosphere.

Progress MS-13 is delivering almost three tons of supplies for the station's Expedition 61/62 crew, including 1,430 pounds (650 kilograms) of propellant, 101 pounds (46 kilograms) of oxygen and 925 pounds (420 kilograms) of water. The vehicle is also carrying research experiments, clothing and food.
