I note that the Progress auto docking sequence had to be aborted and Krikalev had to take over manual control of guidance and docking this weekend.

This has happened many times before with Progress launched to Mir and now the ISS. Krikalev controlled the docking with what amounted to a joystick looking through a camera on the Progress that approaches for docking with the Zvedza service module.

in this case it have been a failure with a russian ground station...so the ground controllers could not send the initial commands for the automated docking sequence of the Progress freighter.

Krikalev did send specials thanks to his instructor on earth wich give him the intensive practice with the manual docking controle system, called TORU ;-)
