According to his NASA bio, Jim Wetherbee flew a total of six spacee shuttle missions, with five as commander. Has anyone else tied or exceeded his total of five landings?

Mike's right, its Jim Wetherbee.

Although many pilots had an opportunity to sample the controls, only the commanders actually landed. Kent Rominger has the most hours on type, but that's not stated by NASA, you have to do the math yourself, and its not completely straight forward.

I had the pleasure to meet Jim at the 2017 Space Rendezvous, and he is a very nice and impressive person. He spoke with us for hours on several different occasions.

I picked up a copy of his book "Controlling Risk." It's a pretty heavy read where he outlines his techniques for Operating Excellence. Apparently some of his fellow astronauts felt he went a bit overboard on safety, but I really liked his book and fully understand his reasons for being so safety conscious; he wanted to keep living.

He also played a pivotal role in the recovery of Columbia.

I hope he comes back to future ASF events!

I had the pleasure of meeting Jim Weatherbee at the 2001 Astronaut Hall of Fame induction ceremony. He was with Max-Q. He was pretty good on the guitar. Of course, I just happened to get all of their autographs while I was there. What a great experience!
