collectSPACE NASA app, website puts space station live data at public's fingertipsEver wonder what the crew on board the International Space Station is doing right now? Or what is the temperature of each of the orbiting outpost's modules? Or how much power is being generated at this very instant by the space station's solar array wings? If so, NASA now has an app for that. The agency's Space Station Live! website and companion ISSLive! mobile application offers the public a new inside look at what is happening aboard the International Space Station (ISS) and in the Mission Control Center at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. |

Maybe the lack of responses to this 2012 topic was telling but NASA has announced it will be shutting down its Space Station Live! (ISSLive!) website and mobile app in "two weeks" (as to when the countdown began, I am not sure, but it's happening soon). Submit concerns to NASA official Jennifer B. Price for more information. For what it's worth, I've written as the site has been a good tool while writing space station related articles. The site has uniquely offered access to the crew's timelines, telemetry from the station's systems and basic up-to-date information such as the altitude of the outpost at any given time. |

I wish I would have paid more attention to this topic. I find it very interesting, informative, and gives an up-close and personal view of the station's activities. I'll have to send an email to Ms. Price. |

No, it's completely unrelated. The National Geographic special has been in the works for more than a year.NASA's other space station-related outreach activities are continuing, including 'Space Station Live' and 'Space to Ground' on NASA TV and online, respectively. |

The Space Station Live! (ISSLive) website and app has been saved from closure. NASA is currently considering several options for the future of ISSLive and is interested in collecting ideas and thoughts for improvement from the user base. You are invited to provide whatever ideas you have and they will be considered; our hope is that a few of these comments will lead to development.
A few of our favorites are: - Finish the API
- Provide more streaming data – especially payload related and/or video feeds
- Add additional content to the astronaut schedule including equipment photos and links to published research reports
Comments submitted by April 2nd will get a full review. |
