Space station crewmember "testifies" before Senate committee
From the International Space Station (ISS), NASA Astronaut Tom Marshburn discussed the aspects of human scientific research taking place in orbit during an in-flight conversation with members of the U.S. Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Science and Space.
This was not the first time an astronaut in orbit has testified before Congress. Expedition 11 flight engineer John Phillips took questions from the U.S. House of Representatives' Subcommittee on Space and Aeronautics in 2005.
