Can anyone here tell me definitively which NASA T-38 John Young and Bob Crippen flew into KSC for the last time before finally launching on STS-1?

I'm embarking on a model project (previously referenced and soon to be elaborated upon in the "Models and Toys" forum), and this is the the aircraft I'd choose to be my subject...but I need a "tail number." Any help? Ideally with photo(s). THANKS!

From the slides I took when they arrived it seems that Young flew NASA-929 and Crippen NASA-924. That was on April 8, 1981.

Correction: checked my other photos. Young flew NASA-909. Also identified as T-38 no.60 (AF serial no.65-1035).

Thanks Ed! I probably should have just asked you first.

I wasn't sure whether Young and Crippen flew into KSC in the same jet or separately. Could I trouble you to send me a pic or two of John Young's 909 on that day?

I am probably wrong about this, and it makes no difference but I thought Young and Crippen arrived at Patrick AFB in the early days.

STS-1 was delayed for years; I assumed Young and Crippen came and went numerous times in the interim. I wanted to know which jet(s) they flew in on for the last time prior to launch.

Go to Ed's Photo of the Week 75c. He shows Young flew into Patrick on April 8th with no mention of the skid strip at Kennedy. Maybe they just drove up A1A and stopped off for a snack at The Moon Hut on the way?

We had to drive to Patrick AFB in those days to see the crew arrive. Young and Crippen flew separate jets and George Abbey was flying backseat with Young. I'll mail you some photos of Young's T-38.

I admit I was startled to learn that the Gatekeeper himself rode in Young's back seat that day.

Also, if any of you didn't know, Ed Hengeveld is awesome.
