The shuttle wake-up music is great. You get a personal touch to the people onboard. It gives an insight in their taste, the culture and a pure good feeling.

I got a lot of favorites from this source:
"Who let the dogs out", Baha men
"Donīt let go", Lindsey Buckingham
and many many more.

Question 1: I've hear that for the ISS expeditions the crew play wake-up music for the flight controllers. Does anyone know if this list of music is available somewhere from any/all expeditions?

Question 2: During STS-118, flight day 2 highlights I believe, I heard the ISS-music called "The cowboy's work is never done" or "Ride". Does anyone have the correct title and performer of this tune. It was very catchy, and could be a new favorite of mine originating from those space guys & gals.

Thanks for responding.

Not sure about ISS wake-ups, but all the shuttle music can be found here, including STS-118.

That wakeup tune was performed by Sonny and Cher (interesting choice actually). Not sure of the title, but that should help in finding it.

Since Clay called it station "KISS" I have to wonder if they have ever played any wakeup tunes from the band known as KISS? (Rocket Ride by Ace Frehley might be one)

You gotta dig a little deeper and use the search box to find info on the one I wrote and performed with my band Private Numbers for STS-31.

Here's a pdf of all the wake up songs: http://history.nasa.gov/wakeup%20calls.pdf

Best,

How often are the songs played live from Houston to wake up the astronauts? I ask that question because I remember not too long ago (2 years maybe?), Robert Earl Keen, a fellow Texan who I am a great fan of, played "Mr. Wolf and Mama Bear" live from mission control because one of the crew members was, like myself, a big REK fan. Anyone remember this? Has it happened before?

Have they ever used "Atlantis" by the Shadows as a wake-up call on Atlantis missions? (Apparently not on STS-117, though!)

It would be awesome if they could give the wakeup calls for the DoD missions. Or maybe because of scrambling protocol they didn't bother.

All times are CT (US)
