From The New York Times: quote: The old-timers still talk of manned rockets and raucous nights at the space cowboy roadhouses, the Moon Hut and the Mouse Trap, places where yesterday’s gravity resisters could raise a beer to honor the Moon and missions thereabouts.Since those days, a whole generation has known space travel only by the shuttle, its orbital perambulations practically terrestrial by comparison. But in a quarter-century of blastoffs here, that bulky, snub-nosed, imperfect craft has gained its own set of admirers and collectors along this space coast.

The Shuttles Restaurant is located in Merritt Island.A group of Cs members were fortunate to hear Winston Scott at lunch during the last AHOF induction at a gathering organized by cS member Bryan McKay. Scott was awesome and down to earth. Garry |

It is on State Road 3 just south and outside the KSC gate. If you are staying in Cocoa Beach, for example, you would drive right past Shuttle's going to the visitors complex. |

When I was in Florida for 3 weeks for the STS-114 Discovery mission. I ate lunch at Shuttles bar & grill daily. I enjoyed the food and just the great atmosphere. Even got to meet some USA Employees having lunch and spoke to each of them. My waitress was a girl name Kim and she was very polite and even knew what I wanted to drink after a couple of visits. I also visited SpaceShirts store right next door to Shuttles. Both places are awesome and they are located next door to each other. When I return to Merrit Island again, I will definately stop at both places again. Both places are worth stopping for. Good to see them get good publicity. Thank You. |

That building!! I've been into the space store. Guess this guy, might have been the owner, told me that was a bar during one visit. Didn't say it was also an eating establishment. |
