If they needed to do an emergency EVA, who would have done it?

In the 1983 documentary "John Young - The Ultimate Exporer", Young is seen praticing an EVA in the WETF. He is seen using the handle that closes the PLBD manually. Did he practice this in case Crippen was unable to do the EVA?

Also...I remember a report at the time that said Crippen might have to do a spacewalk to chck on the tile damage.

This documentary is nothing I've ever heard of!
Any details as to its origin would be appreciated.

The documentary was made and broadcast by the BBC before the STS-9 flight. Shows Youngs early life, onto his Navy career and onto his Gemini/Apollo/Shuttle flights.
Was made as part of "The World About Us" series.

Young gave several interviews to the film crew. It lasted an hour, and I still have it on video.

Hope that helps!
