With all the concerns over hardware and the view points of some NASA engineering personel at KSC and JSC - I do wish the STS-121 crew a safe ride to orbit and then to ISS this coming weekend.

Fortunately or unfortunately depending on your point of view we have all had or rose colored glasses views about spaceflight ripped off.

After the shuttle Challenger was destroyed we all figured that if we can just get to SRB Sep then everything is OK. After Columbia, we discovered that it's not over until "wheels stop".

I want to believe that people who care about our space program as much as I do, and who are a lot smarter than me have examined this issue with the ET and that pressing on with launch is the correct thing to do.

I do know that I will be praying for the crews safety, the launch team, the MMT and everyone else involved that all will go well.

I know that Jon Clark said that we have to decide are we a space-faring or space-fearing nation because certainly more names will be added to the Space Mirror. I just don't want them added soon.

Godspeed the Crew of STS-121.

Tim

And from Ireland.
We in Ireland get to watch launches,in a way no one else can.We watch them on Tv like everyone else, but then 20 mins or so after liftoff,we goo out look to the west and watch the shuttle blaze across the skies.Seconds later,a second star flies in,this time a diry brownish fuzzy star the external tank, which eventually disapears, leaving the shutttle to carry on to the east.
God speed the crew of this remarkable flying machine from the Isle of Ireland.

As I wrote to my Congressman, there is not much greater joy than seeing the International Space Station fly overhead.

And when the Shuttle is up, before docking, you can usually bet on seeing TWO fast moving stars within a few minutes of each other.....

And you are just thankful to be living at a time when man continues to explore, fully recognizing that, yes, there are problems on the Earth that could use that money, but by spending that money, you give us on Earth so many useful things. And when Americans can be more productive the whole world benefits, because with all our wealth, there is no more generous of a nation than the USA.

Godspeed my astronauts !

Good luck guys. May you have a very safe and fun flight. I hope to see a safe launch, and landing. The world, or at least us CS'ers will be watching!

Don't know if anyone's mentioned this yet, but the Shuttle launch will be live on the HDNET Channel. Should be incredible. According to the online TV Guide the coverage has already started.

Best of luck to the crew!
