NASA Visitors Centers video release
A Star Wars Day Message from NASA

In celebration of Star Wars Day, NASA astronaut Rick Mastracchio hopes to deliver a special message from the space station. Little does he know, however, that the Empire plans to jam his transmissions.

Thankfully, R2-D2 is on the case.

(For those unaware, Star Wars Day is May 4, as in May the Fourth be with you...)

Brilliant! The two main "forces" in 20th Century space pop culture collide at last.

There have been attempts to make it April 5th, which in 2063 is the day of First Contact with the Vulcans.

I, for one, am pleased to learn that R2D2 spends some of his downtime hanging out on Skylab.

I'm a Star Wars fan, but I didn't know about Star Wars Day until I watched the latest episode of The Big Bang Theory. I'll never forget.
