Geeks love the Space Shuttle Program. After all, it was a huge write-in campaign by Star Trek fans that got the first orbiter named Enterprise instead of its intended name, Constitution. We'll admit it. We're gonna miss it.

But... but...

For one generation, the question was "Where were you when Kennedy was shot?" All our customers remember the moment they found out about 9/11. But for a 10-15 year window of Americans in their 30s and 40s, the defining tragedy of our generation was the Challenger disaster. We know exactly what we were doing when we heard about it. We weren't around (or aware enough) to have been shaped by the moon landing or Apollo 13, and Hubble's combination of unmanned-ness plus its rocky start got it mentally written off. For this group of people, the Space Shuttle is synonymous with the U.S. space program. So the retirement of NASA's Space Shuttle Program is bittersweet for us. Okay. Honestly? There's nothing sweet about it. It's just bitter. If you're in the room with us when we watch the final launch, that's totally allergies. Or dust. Or um... eye spouts. It's a meteorological phenomenon.

Please note that riders wearing Saturn V products should do so with caution on their first few rides, specially on short steep climbs, onramps and the like as we have had a few reports of riders indadvertantly achieving escape velocity and inserting themselves into low earth orbit.

We want to give space exploration a whole new attitude. It's hip, it's now, it's extreme! So the golf thing is out. I mean, come on. Your dad golfs. Your grandpa golfs. Golf is for upper-middle-class white retirees. That's not our man-on-the-Moon's speed at all. Let's send a real gnarly dude up there to base-jump into a crater! Or do some BMX tricks or something! I bet you could get serious air up there.

I mean -- not air air, but you know what I mean.

Or -- hey, soccer! Why not soccer, right? It's cool, it's fast, it's got a real global vibe. Plus the equipment is super cheap, which, let's face it, we're not exactly flush, budgetarily.

The term 'Shuttle Hugger' has been used to describe those in favor of continuing the shuttle program. Unfortunately, some use the term to be derogatory. This design turns that negativity around and uses the term to be funny. This design is for all of the space-loving shuttle huggers out there who support the shuttle program and all it has done for our country.

  Imagine what it must have been like to be the very first person to see the Earth from a non-Earth vantage point. You get to confirm that the world is, indeed, round. You can tell what's above the clouds. You see how blue the planet is with your own eyes. That honor was cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin's on April 12, 1961. He and the Vostok 1 spent a total of 108 minutes lifting off, making a single orbit of the Earth, and coming back down safely. Ground control wasn't sure until 25 minutes in whether the ship was in stable orbit, and much of the journey Gagarin was out of communication with the various ground stations. The Vostok was on autopilot, and, in fact, Gagarin's only way to control it was in a sealed envelope he would have to break open if he needed to override the automatic controls. Fortunately, for both Gagarin and the future of manned spaceflight, almost everything went off without a hitch.

  The rest, as they say, is history.
