Newly discovered comet C/2013 A1 is projected to make a very close approach to Mars next year which should be a great show for our robotic sensors on the planet's surface.

There is a small but possible chance given ambiguity in the comet's known orbital data that it may even impact Mars late next year...

I just read that there is a comet coming close to Mars later this year.

Does anyone know if the HD cameras on Curiosity can operate at night? It would be great to get an HD shot of the comet as it goes by from a Mars surface perspective...
