Having a browse through the backwaters of the internet I came across a news report from June this year that an Australian microbrewery had developed a beer especially for use in the zero-G environment. It is claimed that it contains less carbon dioxide to reduce the incidence of unpleasant expulsions that frequently accompany the partaking of this beverage.

Has anyone tried it, especially our friends from the antipodes? And is there any chance of it finding its way onto the ISS?

This sounds like the (Russian) pencil vs the (US) ballpoint issue. No need to "invent" a CO2-free beer... it already exists and is called "real ale" - the only beer worth drinking. (Not that it's free from nasty side effects!).

According to the 4-Pines website (linked above), reducing the carbonation was only half their goal; they also wanted to up the flavor in response to astronauts' reports of dulled tastes due to the "mild swelling of the tongue."

The Vostok Stout has a "rich chocolate and caramel flavor."
