Is an 'inflatable moon walk' - in the USA - a kid's large blow-up plastic 'bouncing castle' as we would call it in UK ?

Does it get its name from the very fact it is difficult bto walk properly and you are - literally - bouncing around on it :-))

Yes... standard fare in most carnivals and small fairs.

Usually surrounded by a big net to capture the little buggers if they bounce too far off the "moon"

We rented one for our little girl's birthday party last year. Yes they are very difficult to walk in and you do spend a good amount of time in the air. I suppose that's why they call them a Moonwalk, though they don't mimic an actual Moonwalk overall. But they sure are fun! BTW, all this is just what I've been told - I have no way of knowing this personally .....

Back in the 70s when I was just a little guy I got put in one of those moon walks. It scared me silly, I was just this tiny little astronaut wannabe wearing my "moon coat and moon boots" (my mom had to add "moon" in front of most things to get me to wear them!) getting bounced around in there as the big kids played. I just remember being tossed around with no control screaming in terror to get pulled out! I was rescued moments later and pulled back to earth. Poor guy, there went my career and motivation as a future moon walker!

They had one of these at this years Yuri's Night in Washington DC. Pretty hilarious watching adults in one of these, especially when adult refreshments were being served...

All times are CT (US)
