Here in Syracuse - Capital of Outer Space - we not only have John Glenn Blvd. and Gordon Cooper Dr., but the road into the airport is named after Eileen Collins.

Today a friend flew in and needed a ride. I was stopped at a light and dunced out listening to Hank Ballard singing "Look At Little Sister". Apparently the light changed and I didn't notice, so the car behind to me started honking.

When it pulled up next to me a couple of stops down, I saw the driver was an old Grandma. She was sitting looking Dirty Daggers at me, and just before she took off she flipped me the bird.

I was thunderstruck! Usually I'm married to a woman before she starts swearing at me. I musta rubbed this old dreadnaught wrong in a big way!

And on a road named for an Astronaut, no less.

She must have been one of the 78% that voted in a poll that they wanted to go back to the moon.

I was looking for sympathy here....commiseration. You know, "Balm in Gilead" and all that.

Instead what do I get? RAZZING.

You coconuts should be ashamed of yourselves for mocking the afflicted.

No, we're not all that way. Pallid from lack of sun, bot not all that crabby, unlike people in Buffalo who are pallid and completely nuts, too. People in Rochester just take it out with gunfire, right?

However, as a friend from LA noted, people from Syracuse are easy to spot because they wear jackets even on 100 degree days.

We always expect rain and are seldom disappointed.
