Just saw on CNN that long time ABC anchor Peter Jennings has died from lung cancer at age 67.

What a shock! This was NOT on my local news... on to the radio where "you" always get the best stuff!

Another one of those "giants" of our time, you just never expect to pass on!

My sympathy to his family, friends, and professional colleagues.

A personal coincidence: the only time that Jennings and I were in the same room was in January 1998 at the White House press briefing where President Clinton announced Eileen Collins as the first female Space Shuttle commander.

I remember thinking then of the stature he held among his fellow journalists.

I met Mr. Jennings at a local live national broadcast, a very busy man. He liked the mimeograph of the photo that my friend took a couple of years prior, so we gave him the original kodak print of it. He was thrilled and complimented my friend on taking one of the best photos taken of him. We each got signed copies of the photo. He was quite pleasant and posed for yet another photo, this was about 4 months before it was announced of his condition. My mother was quite fond of his broadcasts, and we shall miss them and him.

I work at "Good Morning America" in NY and it was very sad in the studio this morning. The entire show was dedicated to him and our hosts did a wonderful job reminiscing about his legacy. He will be missed.
