Just came across another NASA widget for all you folks running Tiger (OS X 10.4 for all you non-Mac users). It displays different news feeds from NASA including a Return to Flight feed. http://www.usweho.com/widgets.html |

Between this new widget and the NASA TV widget, I'm loving Dashboard. Now, I just need a station/shuttle tracking widget (or if I am really lucky, a full satellite track widget) and I'll be all set. Thanks for the heads-up! |

I don't know about a satellite tracking widget but if you want to see what's flying overhead at any time you should get Freefall http://www.xtrememac.com/freefall/index.shtml If you're a .Mac subscriber you can get a limited version for free. If you buy the full version you can enter your coordinates and have it show you what's overhead at that moment. It's also just a very cool screensaver! |

Widgets are mini-applications that run within a Mac OS X.4 (Tiger) environment called Dashboard. They are designed to serve a single purpose, often to provide quick access to web-based information (though popular widgets include a unit converter, a language translator, calendar, 5-day weather forecast and dictionary/thesaurus. These widgets are always running but hidden from view until you need and trigger them, and then they overlay whatever screen you currently have as active. For more information, see Apple's website. quote: I don't know about a satellite tracking widget but if you want to see what's flying overhead at any time you should get Freefall
I have Freefall and love it, but being able to glance quickly where the ISS, Shuttle, HST or the like is located at any given time would be nice.[This message has been edited by Robert Pearlman (edited July 07, 2005).] | |
