I would appreciate anyone with good knowledge fielding this question. I have an original poem signed by Neil Armstrong as well as the photo signed to my friend who wrote the poem. We are working on a book of several celebrities including Mickey Mantle, Oprah, Jerry Rice, etc. We have documents signed by these people, and we would like to include scans of the those documents. I was told by the gentleman who owns the rights to Mickey Mantle's signature that I would have to get permission from each person or the estate of each person to publish these documents in our book that we are working on. You can understand my dilemna of having to write to over 50 people to get the permission. Is he pulling my leg? It is not like I'm making bats and including a facsimilie signature of Mickey Mantle on a bat. We own these documents and are simply displaying them in our book. I realize you lawyers out there can't give me "real" advice, but can you kinda point me in the right direction. Thanks, Vince [This message has been edited by Moonpaws (edited May 07, 2005).] | |
