Revisiting some work I did on the Apollo 7 flight I counted 15 astronauts directly involved in some capacity or other with preparations for this flight. This number does NOT include post lift-off duties, i.e. excludes CapComs for example.

This leads me to ask if this was exceptional because it was the first Apollo mission, or were there others not usually listed/mentioned for the other flights. By this I mean others apart from prime, back-up and support crews.

Did the positions of "Stoney" and "Tanks" end with Gemini, or did they continue into Apollo? Both were always filled by astronauts and were only involved in launch and boost phases.

All times are CT (US)
