John Young and Charlie Duke claimed to have found a shatter cone feature on house rock (Station 11).

I've read about shatter cones and examined the close up photos; e.g. AS16-116-18649 and AS16-106-17345 and am still not sure what I'm looking at or for. Can someone please indicate some detail in these photos that demonstrates a shatter cone feature? Thank you.

They're not that easy to see in the Apollo 16 photographs. This article has an excellent picture of shatter cones in Morocco after the sixth paragraph.

The shatter cone area on House Rock in delineated in Apollo 16's professional geological paper showing AS-106-17345:

It can also be seen in AS-116-18649 in the area slightly right of an imaginary line joining the ends of the astronaut's gloves:

In my experience shatter cones are not necessarily quite so easy to see in the field as text books suggest (that goes for quite a lot of geology).

Thank you so much David. The AS16 professional paper should have been my first go to... thanks again. — Bob
