The Apollo 11 Lunar Surface Journal has PDFs of three different transcripts that resulted from the Apollo 11 mission. NASA made copies of one of those transcripts, the PAO Spacecraft Commentary, and distributed them to the press, almost in real time. I've seen some hard copies of this transcript circulating in the book trade (most often these are just two 27-page sections, and not the entire PAO transcript, which is hundreds of pages). I know that by 1980 NASA's public affairs office was using a Xerox machine to make copies of the spacecraft commentary transcripts they were distributing to the press (according to Steve Nesbitt), but my question is: does anyone know what the PAO was using to make transcript copies specifically during Apollo 11? My *guess* is that Xerox wouldn't pass up the opportunity to affiliate themselves with the mission, but I've yet to come across an account that makes any definitive statement about the copying equipment used by the PAO then. I'm also curious about the typewriters. By 1980, the PAO was using IBM Magnetic Tape Selectric Typewriters — these were available as early as 1964/5, but again, I've been unable to find any records that say whether this piece of equipment was in use during Apollo 11. |

They would be standard government procured office equipment and therefore no fanfare associated with them. There would be no reason to record when these were introduced.
