I love it when two of my interests converge. I just heard a radio DJ talking about Neil Armstrong mention that Pink Floyd was performing live in the same BBC studio that the Apollo 11 landing coverage was being broadcast. Pretty neat. I don't remember hearing about this before. So did any of you over there hear or see this live way back then? |

Oddly enough I stumbled on the same thing a few days ago. Apparently Pink Floyd played a few unreleased songs made just for the moon landing. Just put "Moonhead Pink Floyd" into YouTube and you will get a few videos with the song. It can be found in bootleg copies of concerts and I found a website that has all of those songs which is unofficially called the "moonhead" album. If you are interested I can send it to you. It is very er... shall we call it.. trippy stuff even by Floyd standards. |

Thanks. I did find them on YouTube, and agree, it's "interesting" material. Like I said, its pretty cool when my different interests have a cross-over like this. I am curious to hear if anyone heard it live at the time and what they thought of it then. |

Sort of Apollo 11 and Pink Floyd related is a remark made by Buzz Aldrin whilst giving a lecture over here in the UK a few years back. I think it was along the lines of "We went around the far side of the moon, not the dark side, that's Pink Floyd..." |

There was a documentary on the BBC a couple of years ago called 'Pink Floyd: Which One's Pink' which contained footage of the band playing music along with the Apollo 11 footage. It has been repeated occasionally and is certainly worth a watch. |
