I have seen conflicting dates (from photos) regarding Apollo lunar module deliveries to the Cape for the Apollo 15 mission, specifically 09 Jun 1970 and 16 Nov 1970. Is it possible that the earlier date was LM-9 arriving and the later date was LM-10 arriving?

I can find no record of whether LM-9 was shipped to the Cape before the J-mission upgrade was made. Eventually, because of the static display, we know it got there by 1976. Thanks!

On edit: "Apollo by the Numbers" lists "LM ascent stage #10 delivered to KSC" on 06 Nov 1970 and "LM descent stage #10 ready to ship from factory to KSC" on 16 Nov 1970. So does it sound right that the 09 Jun 1970 descent stage delivered must have been LM-9?

The Apollo Program Summary Report indicates that the LM-10 ascent stage was delivered to KSC on November 6, 1970. The LM-10 descent stage was delivered to KSC on November 16, 1970.

Also this from NASA SP-4204 Moonport:

Apollo 15 launch operations got off to a slow start, impeded by spacecraft modifications. Checkout of the lunar module began in mid June 1970, about the time the Apollo 13 review board announced its findings. Service module modifications, recommended by the board, delayed the launch date by five months. The September decision to enlarge the final missions brought further hardware changes. Spacecraft operations resumed in November with the arrival of the modified stages of the lunar module.

That is correct. LM-9 arrived in June and was scheduled to fly on Apollo 15, but when that flight became a J-mission it was assigned LM-10, which arrived in November.

I don't think that CSM-111 (for the original Apollo 15 mission) was at KSC when the H-mission was cancelled.

All times are CT (US)
