I am currently editing my animations of the Apollo 10 full mission videos and am about to go through Snoopy's Descent Orbit Insertion (DOI) burn and on to the low orbit sweeps Tom and Gene made across the moon.Does anyone know if, after DOI, they stayed in a heads pointing away from the lunar surface or did they orient Snoopy so they could see where they were going? The is one part where Gene says they are going backwards but it is obvious that for the majority of the time they have a view of the surface. Any help with the timings of the RCS burns, how the orientation looked relative to the surface, etc., would be appreciated. I want to at least try to make it look like it looked on the day. Thanks. |

I think I heard somewhere (wish I could remember the source) that they were facing the surface so that they could photograph the approach path for Apollo 11.EDIT: There's a diagram of the LM attitudes on page 43 of the Apollo 10 Press Kit. |
