I'm teaching a course on technical writing and would like to showcase technical manuals from the Apollo program. Any suggestions? - What SOP was best 'loved' by the astronauts?
- Most historic?
- Any reference to Tech Writers from the Apollo program?

There was a great website that had hundreds of manuals available to download, unfortunately it's been shutdown. This link should take you an archived version of that site and should give you plenty of material.Good luck. |

I just tried it and found only two of the pages to be active, however the embedded hyperlinks to the actual documents are not functional. Most of the the links are to the NASA Technical Reports Server (NTRS) so provided one knows which document is being sought you would be better served entering a search string to obtain it. |

Consider using the Apollo Operations Handbook Block II Spacecraft for your class. Also the Apollo Experience Reports tend to be pretty good. |

Not really technical manuals but I'm sure that the Bendix Technical Journals on the Apollo program exist as .pdf |

Shame this is is defunct but it's still relatively easy to use, I had no problems with any of the category pages loading up (Mercury, Gemini, Apollo etc). It's true that the links appear to be dead but they're not - when you click a document you got a page that reads - Robots.txt Retrieval Exclusion. We're sorry, access to http://ntrs.nasa.gov/archive/nasa/casi.ntrs.nasa.gov/19750005463_1975005463.pdf has been blocked by the site owner via robots.txt. The link given can be copied and pasted into your browser, then the .pdf will download as usual. (To avoid confusion - the link above is just an example, obviously it will differ depending on what document you originally clicked through from.) |
