Is there a good source of information on specific drop tests — dates, results, even photos? I'm specifically looking for any information I can on drop 86-4.

It is referenced in a June 1970 paper on predicting the loads and stresses on the Apollo parachutes, but I can't find any other mention of 86-4.

If your inquiry pertains to the chute purchased via Lunar Legacies in January of last year, it was utilized for a separate series of non-qualification drop tests to obtain failure analysis data.

Thanks for the quick reply! It does pertain to that, so any information you could provide about those tests would be greatly appreciated. I don't even know what a "non-qualification drop test" is.

Is that "86-4" still the one mentioned in the paper I linked to? (You can do Cntrl-F for 86-4 to find it a few times in that 350-page paper.)

Following conclusion of the qualification series, NASA found it had remaining, un-utilized parachutes and took the opportunity to conduct additional drops not programmed into the original test regime. These supplemental drop tests generated data to inform potential future NASA efforts.
