At Johnson Space Center's visitor center, Space Center Houston, there is a lunar module trainer on display. Unlike the lunar module mission simulator, used at Kennedy Space Center from 1968-72, this one was used at JSC. Does anyone have information about its history and use at JSC? What role did it serve in training Apollo astronauts? Were there other LM trainers at JSC? |

It was the exact same thing as those at KSC. Both sets of simulators were used to train crews. The KSC ones were for crews closer to launch. Training started at MSC. |

If the one at Space Center Houston is the same as the one used at KSC, then it is just a small part of what it used to be. The whole simulator had an aft section to complete the cockpit. I see the one from KSC is complete, belongs to the Smithsonian and is on display at the Cradle of Aviation.I would be interested if anyone knows what building it was used in at JSC. |

Would it be nice if this thing still works? |

The above photo is from NASA's archives; it does not exist in that form any longer. The lunar module trainer at Space Center Houston, if I am thinking of same one, can be seen here (for lack of a better photo). |

There is another LM trainer that was on display at KSC. Can't recall where it is now. |

I believe part of this trainer is now located at the Cradle of Aviation museum in Long Island, New York. There's more on the museum's website. On edit: Actually looking again, the Cradle of Aviation trainer is from KSC and not Houston. Apologies for that. |
