One guess is that Glenn and Carpenter would have stuck around, if Glenn had successfully demanded a flight from Deke Slayton.Hey, Carmelo, check this out: I went out and took this because I knew you'd enjoy it. You know someday i ought to go around Hampton and take pictures of all our space refrences on streets and bridges. We have Mercury, Gemini. and Apollo Blvd's of the 3 only mercury is a major street. And we have Commander Sheppard Blvd. And 6 bridges named for the other 6 mercury astronauts. Sadly most people have no clue who these roads or nbamed for or why Mercury Blvd is named such. Infact some group several years ago tried to have Mercury Blvd renamed Martin Luther King Blvd. Thankfully the idea didnt happen Project Mercury is part of the history of Hampton VA abnd so are the original 7 astronauts. |

Hi Carmelo. Where did you find the photo of Cooper getting into the Corvette? Do you have any other photos of astronauts with Corvettes? I have seen the photo of the Apollo 12 crew with their gold Corvettes and the Apollo 15 crew with their red, white, and blue Corvettes. |

You could wipe out on a bicycle! It's just a country lane that ends in a cul-de-sac. |
