Can someone please advise me about NASA press photos from the mid-1980s?While unpacking some stuff, I ran across a thick folder of NASA press photos that I had long-forgotten. There are several varieties, most have red NASA lettering (with the inchworm logo) and are printed on some sort of Kodak paper. The picture ID numbers are either red or blue. The picture number formats are like: 61-C-31-02 (on the front and back) or S 13 3079 (front) with S13-3079 (back). There is a description and information on the back of each printed in what looks like mimeograph purple ink. They seem to be primarily from Shuttle missions 41-C and 61-C. There are also some black & white pictures (no color to the front NASA log). From the two ID numbers I gave, does it look like these are common? Any advice on how I should put them up for sale? As a single set, or two sets (one for each mission)? I doubt very much if I will sell them off individually - too much hassle. The pile is about 1-1/8 inches thick and right now I have no idea how many there are. I guess over the holidays I will whip up some sort of spreadsheet to catalog exactly what is there. |

I wouldn't call them common, unlike many lithos. The content of the glossies (launch / landing / inflight) is the critical part, along with the condition. |

Just to follow-up on these shuttle press pics.STS-41C - 17 B&W (10 inflight, 2 launch, 2 landing, 3 misc on the ground) STS-41C - 75 Color (30 blue ID Numbers, 29 red ID Numbers, 6 have no numbers on front, 8 have no description on the back; about half of the picture are on the ground/training, about 1/2 are in flight) STS-61C - 13 Color pictures (all have red ID numbers, all are inflight) None are creased and the corners on the vast majority are sharp. A few have less contrast-y (slightly faded?) colors from marginal photography, processing, or printing. | |
