I got this from the son of a NASA employee. I was told that signatures my be autopen, however when I took the item to the Smithsonian Air and Space I was told that the film cell was real and likely from the mission... but could not confirm. Does anyone know anything about this and its possible worth? Thanks.

I'm not an expert on signatures by any means, but it is definitely a photograph from Apollo 17.

My constant trawling of eBay tells me that this is an uncommon item and would get a reasonable sum regardless of whether it is autopen.

Can you give an indication of its size?

The photo is a contact print from the Apollo 17 SIM bay panoramic camera made by the Itek Corp. I once owned an identical image. From memory the print is approximately 36" x 6"... but my print did not have the broad white border that holds the autopen signatures. It was all image with the thin black border top and bottom.

I apologize to the folks that replied to this thread years ago. I got deployed with the military and I am just getting back to this. It's good to know it is indeed a photograph that opens up a whole new set of questions like how rare is this. I welcome any comments and I will try to get the dimensions on here tonight.

Rick, if you are still watching these threads, this would be an image only as well, except it looks like the film was secured on the paper with the signatures somehow. Now the big question I have now is if the signatures are real.

All times are CT (US)
