Topic: Saturn IB launch large format film information

I was given a roll of large format film yesterday that shows the launch of the ASTP missions. This is huge film, much larger then any I have encountered in the past. Each frame is 2.75 inches wide and 5.25" tall. They are also negatives and not positives. This looks like it may have been from one of the launchpad cameras as it is very close and detailed. Any information on this type of film or the camera that would have taken these images would be greatly appreciated.  |

That is the ASTP vehicle (AS-210) on the pad. |

Thank you so much for the clarification on the mission LM-12. I was thinking Skylab due to the milk stool did not consider ASTP.Any idea on what this film format would be called? |

Well I have been able to find out this format is larger then the IMAX 70mm film and has more tractor holes on the sides of the image. (IMAX has 15 per frame and these have 21 per frame). I do believe it is a 70mm wide film but much larger frames. Still looking for clues if anyone can help. |

I think it was a special camera for a long-upward vertical launch ascent once the vehicle cleared the tower. I'll try to get more info. on it later, also Chuck, you can always tell if a Saturn 1B launch is ASTP by its lightning mast structure mounted atop the LUT. None of the three manned Skylabs had the mast on top in 1973. |

Also, the position of the LUT crane was different for the ASTP launch.
