I have this cover sitting in my collection for quite some time. I think it is signed by Bob Lawrence. I can't seem to find any references to his signature to compare it to. Does anyone have any insight on this signature?

OK got it now. The Riser fake covers. Plugged 9 and so on. Boy I hope this isn't one of them. Any way to know for sure? If it is a Riser fake would that also indicate the signature is fake? Thanks. |

Unfortunately this is almost identical to a Riser fake MOL cancellation with a suspect inscription and autograph that Paul Bulver identifies on Page 2.11 of his CD: "Study of Suspect Space Covers", second edition, 2001. Image below: And just a bit of a clarification, the Plugged 9's mentioned above were RONSON suspect covers, not Risers. Two shady cover makers with easy-to-confuse names! |

Yes, even the other signatures of the MOL/NASA astronauts on the overlay are of Riser origin as well. Everything about the cover type, cancel, cachet, and signature were all created by Riser. |
