Have not been active on the board for years and stopped collecting after STS-114. Due to daughter and grandchildren now living in Australia, I need to fund a trip out there to see them.

I have decided to start selling all my autographed lithos/photographs, unsigned lithos, mission decals from shuttle flights and unmanned missions, etc. Looking for advice on best way to go about it, should I list here first (on Buy, Sell, Trade) or on eBay as well?

It is my opinion that unless you know how much you items are worth or about how much you want for your items eBay or auction is your best bet as for the most part an auction will help determine a fair price.

If you have a price in mind this is a great place to sell quickly with no eBay or PayPal fees.

Space forums are a great place for information and to connect to people with a like interest but many people online are out for a deal and do not always make fair offers.

You could always ask one of the many space dealers out there if they are interested in any part of your collection. Worth a shot.

Nothing against dealers, but they have to profit from your collection because that is their living. They do all the work and make it easy for you, but they only help with what will make them money.

I use eBay and run real old fashioned auctions with no reserves with small opening bids. This attracts attention and without fail two or three bidders will always go after the desirable items in the last five seconds. Let everyone here know about your eBay auctions with no reserves and this market will decide the current values. I say this from experience. It's a ton of work, but the money stays in your pocket.

Stay away from putting a high price with Buy It Now's or Make Offers. These auctions don't work unless you underprice your items. All you get is no bids and the sound of crickets mixed in with the shrieks of opportunistic scoundrels treating you like a new double amputee being fed low-ball offers for his shoes.

All times are CT (US)
