Does anyone know about a Sandy Clarkson from The Right Stuff Inc. validating Apollo 11 kapton foil? Just won one at auction and was wondering if any one knows about them and being authentic? Thank you.

I believe Clarkson is affiliated with Goldberg Auctions. I have purchased space related items from them before. Goldberg deals mostly with gold and ancient coins. As far as the Kapton foil you will have to just take it for what the letter states.

I have seen pictures of Columbia prior to leaving the Rockwell facility in Downey Ca. after post flight inspections and the capsule was pretty much stripped of all of the foil.

It would seem logical that a NASA employee would have small pieces depending on what facility he worked at due to Columbia having been almost picked clean by souvenir grabbers.

I've known Sandy for many years and can vouch for him and his integrity. He currently does some purchasing of material for Goldberg's space auctions. He regularly travels to Florida and Houston to visit former NASA employees as well as space collectors to secure the material.

I'm sure Ken Havekotte will concur with me.

I'm not sure what I can add to the two posts already received on the Apollo 11 Kapton you won. But I'm the one who signed the COA. If you want to reach out to me privately I may be able to provide a bit more background: therightstuffinc@gmail.com.
