Would anyone be willing to give their thoughts on this signed Apollo 11 crew cover please (authenticity, condition, etc). Been looking for an Armstrong or Apollo 11 crew signed cover for some time and this has been offered. Many thanks in advance for your help. |

This appears to be the example in the Nate Sanders auction on the 22nd Feb. Comes with a Steve Zarelli COA. Personally I think the minimum prices shown are very high and the pink writing detracts from the desirability. |

This was from the collection of a Yugoslavian journalist named Jugin. His collection has been offered by a European eBay seller and pieces are eventually filtering through the market in other venues. There are a number of photos of Jugin with the astronauts. Apparently, he accompanied them on at least a portion of their world tour... and he wasn't shy about asking for autographs! A few of Jugin's pieces had Apollo 11 proxy signatures. It is not clear if they were signed by someone from the PAO on the tour, or Jugin mailed the photos after the fact. |

Thanks you very much for your replies.Do you think it’s a good piece to have if I am looking for either an Armstrong only or a whole crew signed FDC? Steve, since you have already authenticated it as original autographs signed by the astronauts themselves, would you be able to put a value on what it may be worth? I’d be interested at sensible money, but not sure what that is based on the condition and address, etc. that is on the cover. |

Florian has an Apollo 11 mission patch signed cover in his current offerings, the one he is showing is not as "messy" as this one. It will give you good comparison pricing information. |

I don't think an insurance cover is a fair comparison, I have one for sale here, but the covers are not equal. For the one pictured, I would say a retail/auction price would be in the region of $4000-4500. It isn't as clean as others I have seen, it also has a name and address in purple ink. Overall it is still a desired piece, any Apollo 11 signed cover always will be, but it is at the bottom of the pile in my opinion. |

Richard, I would say that $4-5,000 is very high for this piece. Even Sanders Auction only listed it for $2650. It sold with only one bid for a total of $3250 including BP. |

Maybe it will increase in value as we get closer to the 50th anniversary and collecting fever restarts? That seemed to be the case from 2009 until about 2012 when everything was going for a lot more.I would agree that's its not as valuable as an Insurance cover, but its what a collector is willing to pay at the end of the day. |

Thanks for you thoughts folks!Interesting to hear the comparison between that cover and another "cleaner" cover. The fact that it comes with Steve Zarelli's authentication already, it doesn't seem to have been a bad deal for someone for a mission patch Apollo 11 cover with all three crew members signatures and a potential story regarding how they were obtained! I see there was another (non-addressed) Apollo 11 cover for sale at the Sanders auction starting at $11,000. Although it didn't sell, is that cover really worth $8k more? Also didn't look like it had a Steve Zarelli COA. |

Under the "for sale" Sanders auction, I posted that many of his items were on the high end of retail as opening bids. Although it is a nice cover. |
